Alana Jacoby is a musical theater lyricist and bookwriter, playwright and lighting designer originally from Newtown, Connecticut. She studied playwriting at Brown University and graduated with honors in 2008 before going on to earn an MFA from the Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2011. Her work includes Mortality Play with music by Scotty Arnold (Ars Nova, dir. West Hyler; Yale Institute for Music Theatre, dir. Mark Brokaw), Pandora’s Paintbox with music by Willem Oosthuysen (NYU, dir. Stephen Fried), and Apologies to Yellow with music by Salomon Lerner. Her songs have been featured at the Barrington Stage Company and the Laurie Beechman Theatre. She currently lives in Brooklyn and works as a teaching artist for the Roundabout Theatre Company.
