Iddo Netanyahu was born in Jerusalem, and spent part of his childhood in the United States. He studied at Cornell University until 1973 when he left to fight for Israel in the Yom Kippur War. At Cornell,he was inducted into the Irving Literary Society before going to war.
Netanyahu served in Sayeret Matkal, Israel’s special forces unit, as did both his brothers. He has an MD from Hebrew University of Jerusalem School of Medicine and did post-doctoral training at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He works part time as a radiologist at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, New York, but spends most of the year in Israel. His play A Happy Ending was successfully produced in Italy for the European Memorial Day in 2008. His other published works include The Rescuers, Yoni’s Last Battle: The Rescue at Entebbe, 1976 (also known as Entebbe: A Defining Moment On The War On Terrorism – The Jonathan Netanyahu Story), Itamar K., and Sayeret Matkal at Entebbe.
