THE TOOTH FAIRY VERSUS EL RATON PEREZ

Music by Mary Feinsinger
Lyrics by Stacey Luftig
Libretto by Susan Murray

In the United States, baby teeth that have fallen out are, of course, whisked off by the Tooth Fairy. But in many Spanish-speaking countries, that job is done by a tooth mouse—a mouse called El Ratón Pérez. The Tooth Fairy Versus El Ratón Pérez is a whimsical children’s musical based on an award-winning book by René Colato Laínez. It tells the story of Miguelito, a little boy with a very loose tooth, who straddles both Latino and United States cultures. One night, Miguelito’s loose tooth comes out. And when he lies down to sleep, both the Tooth Fairy and El Ratón Pérez show up to lay claim to what’s tucked under his pillow.
