Shortly after moving to the US from Mexico City at the age of fourteen, his passion for the arts grew rapidly and developed into a career choice. He appeared on Broadway in the 2006 Tony Award-winning musical\u00a0<em>Spring Awakening<\/em>, as well as\u00a0<em>How To Succeed&#8230;<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Bye Bye Birdie<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Doctor Zhivago<\/em>. He toured the country with the 2015 Tony Award-winning musical\u00a0<em>Fun Home<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Spring Awakening<\/em>. Regionally he appeared in\u00a0<em>Ragtime, Next To Normal, Parade, Fun Home<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Bonnie &amp; Clyde<\/em>. As a composer, he wrote songs &#8220;Quiero So\u00f1ar&#8221; and \u201cMaduros\u201d along with friend Alex McCabe which appeared in films\u00a0<em>Top Five<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Can You Ever Forgive Me<\/em>.\u00a0 His musical\u00a0<em>Little Duende<\/em>\u00a0was in residency at The O&#8217;Neill Center for their 2021 NMTC. It was also featured in the 33rd annual NAMT festival in New York that same year. His solo concert\u00a0<em>Robi Hager: So Far<\/em>\u00a0was part of the Arden Theatre Company&#8217;s 2021 virtual season which featured his musical compositions, so far. Robi is the creator and producer of LGBTQ musical\u00a0<em>Basic Witches<\/em>, for which he received a 2018 Barrymore Award nomination for best original score. He is the composer for a new musical called\u00a0<em>Siluetas<\/em>, which was accepted at The O&#8217;Neill Center&#8217;s\u00a02022 NMTC.<em>\u00a0Siluetas\u00a0<\/em>is commissioned by\u00a0Power Street Theatre Co.
