Since her daughter\u2019s disappearance, she has frozen herself, her husband and their mentally handicapped son in a changeless state. \u00a0With the missing girl\u2019s twentieth birthday approaching, a young woman of the Lakota nation arrives at their doorstep and is persuaded to recover the lost child. \u00a0A battle of wills ensues when the hopes of Kerryn, a white woman steeped in Roman Catholic ritual, clash with the doubts of a Native American who has wandered adrift of her ancestors\u2019 beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bio:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jennie Redling is a recipient of BMI\u2019s Jerry Harrington Musical Theatre Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement as a Librettist, the national Stanley Drama Award and the Arlene R. and William P. Lewis Playwriting Award for Women. She is a finalist for the 2020 American Theatre Wing\u2019s Jonathan Larson Grant, the 2020 Ensemble Studio Theatre Alfred P. Sloan Project, the 2016 Richard Rodgers Award for Musical Theater, the Arts &amp; Letters Prize for Drama, Ensemble Studio Theatre One-Act Marathon,\u00a02009 Firehouse Theatre Contest of New American Plays, The O\u2019Neill National Playwrights Conference, and Semifinalist for Prop Thtr National New Play Festival and 2020 Playmakers\u2019 Thomas Wolfe International Playwriting Competition.\u00a0<br><br>Jennie is the book writer for the musical\u00a0<em>My Heart is The Drum<\/em>\u00a0(with composer Phillip Palmer and lyricist Stacey Luftig) which received a world premiere at\u00a0Village Theatre\u00a0in 2016 and was developed at the\u00a0NAMT Festival of New Musicals, the\u00a0Goodspeed Johnny Mercer Writers Colony, Kent State University, and the\u00a0BMI Lehman-Engle Musical Theatre Workshop.\u00a0 Drum was featured in NAMT\u2019s 46th Minute Concert in October 2017 and the\u00a0Good to Go Festival of New Music by Women\u00a0in March 2018. A podcast reading of Jennie\u2019s award-winning play,\u00a0<em>Gone Astray<\/em>\u00a0was aired by Pittsburgh\u2019s\u00a012 Peers Theatre\u00a0in their 2016\u00a0Modern Myths New Play Series. Jennie\u2019s screenplays include\u00a0<em>Zone One<\/em>\u00a0with Mark V. Olsen and\u00a0<em>The Six Candles<\/em>. Among theatres where her plays were read or produced are Chicago\u2019s Organic Theatre Company, Buffalo\u2019s Alleyway Theatre, New Jersey Repertory Theatre, Soho Rep, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Mint Theater, Urban Stages, Abingdon Theatre, The Barrow Group, New York Theater Festival and Penguin Repertory Theater.<br><br>Jennie&#8217;s monologues and scenes are published in\u00a0Smith &amp; Kraus\u2019s &#8220;Audition Arsenal for Women in Their 20\u2019s&#8221;\u00a0and &#8220;Winners&#8217; Scenes for Kids and Teens,&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0JAC Publishings\u2019\u00a0 &#8220;Monologues at the Heart of Human Nature,\u201d\u00a0 Volumes I and II\u00a0 and the International Centre for Women Playwrights&#8217; &#8220;Scenes from a Diverse World.\u201d Jennie is a member of the\u00a0Dramatists Guild of America,\u00a0BMI Musical Theatre Librettists Workshop, the\u00a0International Centre for Women Playwrights, AEA and SAG-AFTRA.
