Full length; 3M, 1W, 1NB) Tim and Jake may be Deaf roommates sharing an apartment in the city, but they\u00a0are polar opposites &#8211; each with very different worldviews on what it means to be Deaf in a hearing world. When it comes to taking out the trash, they take a comical and insightful dive into their trash and their perceptions\u00a0of each other&#8217;s lives. <em>Trash <\/em>was originally written as a one-act piece as part of JACK NY&#8217;s Radical Acts Festival. The script was devised further at IRT Theatre as part of their IRT 3B Development Series: Artist Residency. <em>Trash<\/em> is a ground-breaking work in which audience members get to experience theatre in an entirely new way: through sign language, spoken translation, projections, and audience voting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bio: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pizza-loving Hoosier, Brooklyn-based theatremaker and actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His current project is the direction of artistic\u00a0sign language\u00a0for Levi Holloway&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Grey House<\/em>\u00a0at Broadway, directed by Joe Mantello.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He recently directed the artistic sign language in the critically acclaimed\u00a0<em>Dark Disabled Stories\u00a0<\/em>(The Public Theater) by Ryan J. Haddad and directed by Jordan Fein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He had worked as DASL on\u00a0<em>Hamlet\u00a0<\/em>(Deaf West &amp; Fiasco Theater),\u00a0<em>Oedipus\u00a0<\/em>(Deaf West &amp; Getty Villa),\u00a0<em>This Moment\u00a0<\/em>(Prospect Theater Company), and\u00a0<em>Titus Andronicus\u00a0<\/em>(Apothetae).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a playwright and actor,\u00a0<em>Trash\u00a0<\/em>debuted with his co-writer, James Caverly at JACK NY&#8217;s Radical Acts Festival in December 2021. He served as an artist-in-residence with James Caverly at IRT Theater&#8217;s 3B Development Series and expanded\u00a0<em>Trash\u00a0<\/em>into a full-length play. In April 2022,\u00a0<em>Trash\u00a0<\/em>returned to JACK NY&#8217;s JACKLab and presented for a sold-out weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He received a Helen-Hayes nomination for Oustanding Supporting Performer in Musical for his portrayal of Mayor Shinn in\u00a0<em>The Music Man<\/em>\u00a0(Olney Theater Center). His selected acting credits include\u00a0<em>Oedipus (<\/em>Deaf West and Getty Villa),\u00a0<em>The Christians\u00a0<\/em>(Phamaly Theatre), and The Vanderburgs&#8217;\u00a0<em>Dancing Girl\u00a0<\/em>(SheNYCArts).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Works by Andrew Morrill: TRASH Synopses: Trash &#8211; (co written with James Caverly.
