An only child, Arlene spent most of her early years playing sports, \u201creading up in an avocado tree\u201d, and racing go karts through their agriculture farm in Homestead, FL. As a child she dreamed of being an architect or CEO, but her love of volleyball would later change her path. Arlene received full academic and athletic scholarships at FIU where she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Honors College. During this time, while touring and competing in beach volleyball tournaments, she was discovered and began modeling and acting. Unexpected and rapid success then led her to study acting in both Los Angeles and New York with several acting studios including Stella Adler and HB Studios.<br><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br>Arlene began her acting career as a lead in the hit Hispanic comedy series <strong><em>Los Teens<\/em><\/strong>, for Telemundo\/NBC. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she earned a role in the ABC pilot <strong><em>Harry Green and Eugene<\/em><\/strong> alongside Jason Segel and Mark Valley, where her comedic flair grabbed the attention of casting directors, and studio executives, which garnered her a holding deal at ABC. Arlene then starred opposite Cary Elwes in NBC\u2019s <strong><em>Hasketts Chance<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 She next played \u201cBebe Arcel,\u201d a series lead in the STARZ original <strong><em>Crash<\/em><\/strong>, with the late Dennis Hopper, which led to a role in the hit film <strong><em>Eat, Pray, Love <\/em><\/strong>with Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem. From there Arlene played \u201cDr Vera Juarez\u201d in <strong><em>Torchwood<\/em><\/strong>, the STARZ collaboration with the BBC, which gained her much attention with international audiences. This attention spawned a guest star on <strong><em>Top Gear<\/em><\/strong> and a victory in Top Gear\u2019s \u201cStars in Small Cars\u201d segment.
