Bill Fennelly

Mr. Fennelly’s work has been seen on Broadway, Off Broadway and regionally. Director of the new musical Fly By Night by Kim Rosenstock, Michael Mitnick and Will Connolly, Director Frankenstein the musical Off Broadway featuring Hunter Foster and Christiane Noll, Director A Christmas Carol featuring F. Murray Abraham and Lynn Redgrave, Director of the South-East premiere of Violet, Original Assistant Director Jersey Boys, Resident Director The Lion King, Associate Director The Gershwins’ Fascinating Rhythm. Bill spent four seasons as a staff director with New York City Opera at Lincoln Center. Awards include the Phil Killian Directing Fellowship at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The San Diego Playbill Award and the Southern California K.P.B.S. Patte Award.

Bill’s work has also been seen at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Hartford Stage Company, Goodspeed Opera House, Manhattan Theatre Club, Portland Center Stage Company, Arizona Theatre Company, Walnut Street Theatre, Ford’s Theatre, Chicago Opera Theater, TheatreWorks-Palo Alto, National Theatre of the Deaf, American Music Theatre Project, N.A.M.T. and Glimmerglass Opera. He served as Producing Artistic Director at Actor’s Express, Associate Producing Artistic Director of The Acting Company and most recently as Assistant Artistic Director at Cirque du Soleil.

Bill has taught and directed at universities across the country: N.Y.U. Graduate Music Theatre Writing Program, The Hartt School, U.C.S.D., Indiana State University, Dartmouth College, Emerson College, University of the Arts and Drexel University.

Bill holds a B.M. from the Hartt School in Music Theatre Performance, Directing and Dramatic Writing as well as a M.F.A. in directing from U.C.S.D. Bill is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Drexel University in Philadelphia.
