Kate Abbruzzese

Kate Abbruzzese is New York-based actress and playwright.

Abbruzzese recently completed filming lead roles in the independent short film LASHES directed by up-and-coming director/producer, Alexandria Wallace and in the short film SIREN.

Abbruzzese can be seen in the feature film, THE CHAPERONE opposite Elizabeth McGovern. TV credits include GUEST LEAD roles on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS for CBS, THE BLACKLIST, Season 7 for NBC, THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL for Amazon Prime. THE EQUALIZER for UNIVERSAL TELEVISION.

Abbruzzese co-starred Off-Broadway opposite Christopher Lloyd in POUND, a new play about Ezra Pound by award winning playwright Sean O’Leary. Both the play and Kate were excellently reviewed. “​Kate Abbruzzese is virtuous, appealing and revealing as she subtly controls the action of the play.​”

In other New York theatre, Abbruzzese recently performed in her original one act play, AN EVENING WITH THE MACBETHS directed by Vivienne Benesch at the Red Bull Theatre Annual Play Festival. She played Celia in The Public Theater workshop of AS YOU LIKE IT adapted and directed by Laurie Woolery & with music by Shaina Taub. Abbruzzese co-starred in the New York workshop presentation of DESCRIBE THE NIGHT by Rajiv Joseph as Urzula, an alluring Polish immigrant, before its run at the Atlantic Theater.

Regionally, Abbruzzese most recently starred in the Hartford Stage/Syracuse Stage co-production of Espejos/Clean as Sarah, and in the world premiere reading of BLACK DICK at the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights Conference.

She starred as Margot in DIAL M FOR MURDER, and Gwendolyn Fairfax in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST at The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. Abbruzzese performed, to critical acclaim, the role of Elizabeth in a comedic adaption of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE at Baltimore Stage. At Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA., her roles have included Ophelia in HAMLET opposite Finn Wittrock and Jessica in MERCHANT OF VENICE which earned her a mention in the WSJ as one of the best summer performances out of town .
