Julian Blackmore

Julian is an award-winning British composer, sound designer, and musician based in the Hudson Valley, New York, where he writes, produces, and performs music for film, media, and theatre.

Theatre credits include: The Peculiar Tale… (Composer) (2019 Festival Of New Musicals, Goodspeed Opera House); Snow Way Out (Composer) (York Theatre Developmental Reading Series); QuizBowl (formerly Academia Nuts) (Composer) (Winner: Best New Musical, 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival); Spandex (Composer) (777 Theatre, New York).

His music has been performed at Lincoln Center (NYC); Barrington Stages (MA), St George’s Hall (Bradford), and used in theatre and media productions around the globe, including India, Hong Kong, South Africa, Australia and Dubai. If you watch enough unscripted telly, you’ve probably (inadvertently) heard his work.

Before relocating to New York Julian toured internationally with top UK tribute band Abba Forever, and with 70s crooners Smokie. He played keyboards, sang, and hosted for the world famous Cafe Wha? Band in Greenwich Village, NYC for eight years before the pandemic struck and forced him to put his skinny jeans into storage.

His rescue dog, Parsley, tends to ghostwrite a lot of his music.
