On Broadway, Martin received a Tony nomination for his performance as Tommy in Brigadoon, a Drama Desk Award for the role of Nick in Maltby and Shire’s Baby, and an L.A. Drama Critic’s Award (during the pre-Broadway tour) for his acclaimed performance as Jud Fry in Oklahoma! His other Broadway credits include Lun Tha in The King And I and Antinuous in Home Sweet Homer, both starring Yul Brynner, Sky Masterson in the Tony Award winning revival of Guys And Dolls, Man Number One in The Roundabout Theatre’s production of A Grand Night For Singing, Mal in The Addams Family, Jupiter in Olympus On My Mind, and Saul in Disney’s King David.
Off-Broadway,Martin’s credits include El Gallo in The Fantasticks, Jupiter/Amphitryon in Olympus On My Mind, Lead Male Singer in Lies And Legends Of Harry Chapin, and The Captain in Micky Grant’s Step Lively Boy.
His theatre work in New York includes Bellomy in the Off-Broadway revival of The Fantasticks, and Grandfather/ Policeman (respectively) in the World Premier production of Tony Kushner’s But The Giraffe which accompanied his translation of Hans Krasa’s opera Brundibar at The New Victory Theatre.
His regional theatre and summer stock credits are too numerous to mention, but they include Signor Naccarelli in The Light In The Piazza, Billy Bigelow in Carousel, Gaston in Gigi, Macheath in The Threepenny Opera, Lancelot in Camelot, and Don Quixote in Man Of La Mancha. His most recent national tour was as the King in The King And I, with Sandy Duncan. Previously he starred as Maurice Goudeket opposite Diana Rigg in the national tour of Jones and Schmidt’s Collette, and he also toured as Jacob in The Rothschilds starring Theodore Bikel.
No stranger to television Martin played Cord Tourner on the daytime drama Search For Tomorrow, Governor Charles Drake on Another World, numerous roles on One Life To Live, and Karl in the T.V. movie Into The Darkness, starring Martin Sheen.
In cabaret Mr. Vidnovic has played The King Cole Room at The St. Regis Hotel in New York City in revues of Rodgers and Hammerstein and Lerner and Loewe, which were subsequently presented in The Terrace Theatre at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. At New York’s Rainbow And Stars, he appeared in the revues The Night They Invented Champagne, and A Grand Night For Singing for which he won a Backstage Bistro Award.
In July of 2007 Martin made his solo cabaret debut with his show What Matters To Me at The Metropolitan Room in New York. He has taken this show to Camelot Woods Resort in Monticello, NY, The Barns at Wolftrap in Vienna, Virginia, among other venues. He has since premiered two more cabaret shows at The Metropolitan Room: I Believe In you and You Make Me Feel So Young…The Songs of Frank and Tony!
Martin has also participated in numerous concerts in Scott Siegel’s Town Hall series Broadway By The Year, Broadway Unplugged, and Broadway Originals.
Martin was the voice of the King in the animated feature film of The King And I, now in CD and DVD realease, as well as the Broadway cast albums of The King And I, Oklahoma!, Baby, Olympus On My Mind, King David, and the Off-Broadway revival of The Fantasticks.
